A New Kind of Outdoor Boiler

Outdoor boilers are famous for saving families money on their heating bills. However, they require much more time and attention than your typical electric or fuel heat. Outdoor boilers also tend to smoke, and cleaning creosote is a chore.

Our Outdoor Coal Boilers have a solution for these issues and allow you to save thousands of dollars every season. The Outdoor Coal Gun coal boilers are designed to be the ultimate boilers, needing only minimal seasonal upkeep.

How Does It Work?

Anthracite coal is the answer. Anthracite (pea-size) is loaded into the hopper and gravity-fed into the firebox. After you start the fire for the season, the draft fan pulls combustion air up through the fire. The draft fan pushes the hot exhaust and the fly ash into our signature Swirl Chamber heat exchanger. The draft fan spins the ash and hot exhaust around in the heat exchanger. Nearly 85% of the heat is transferred into the water. The swirling fly ash scrubs the heat exchanger wall. The scrubbing action keeps the Swirl Chamber running cleaner longer than our competitors. The cooled exhaust goes into the internal cyclone ash separator, removing the remaining fly ash.

New Anthracite is automatically added whenever the grate motor dumps ash off the Lifetime-Warrantied Grate. Our thermo-ash Monitoring Control controls ash removal.

Swirl Chamber

Our specially engineered heat exchanger outperforms in efficiency and maintenance intervals. The Swirl Chamber uses fly ash to its advantage. The draft fan spins the hot exhaust, containing fly ash, around the chamber. The spinning exhaust scrubs the 1/4” thick steel walls. Our Swirl Chamber achieves up to 85% efficiency. Our Outdoor coal boiler has an average exhaust temp as low as 300F.

Thermo Ash-Monitoring Control

Our Thermo Ash Control ensures every piece of Anthracite is completely spent. This control system instantly regulates the temperature of the ash that is leaving the grate. Once the ash reaches the set temperature, it allows the grate to operate, dumping the ash until it senses the hotter temperature of the unburnt coal. Typically, your Outdoor Coal Boiler will not need adjustment from the factory setting. You will probably use the same setting throughout the entire burn season. The outdoor Coal Gun with the Thermo Ash-Monitor controlled grate is able to keep the fire lit for days, even during low-use periods.

Huge Hopper

Typically, the hopper capacity on coal stokers ranges from 100 – 350 pounds. Our S130OD and S260OD outdoor coal boilers can hold up to 2,000 pounds and 3,500 pounds of pea-sized Anthracite, respectively! This enormous capacity gives you up to a 30-day burn time!

You can easily refill the huge hopper with a loader or back your truck up to the side of the unit.

Full Lifetime Warranty on Grate

The grate on the S130OD and S260OD models will never need to be replaced, guaranteed. Our grate design reduces maintenance issues typically found in coal stokers. Our stepped grate will not burn out or warp.

Pressurized Vessel

The heart of our outdoor coal boiler is the vessel, which comes with the best 20-year warranty in the industry. We go the extra mile to use a pressurized vessel because of its many benefits. A pressurized vessel needs thicker steel, qualified welders, and pressure testing. The Outdoor Coal Guns require no maintenance to the water.

The Genius of Anthracite

Anthracite coal does not cause creosote or emit any smoke! There is no creosote build-up and no risk of a chimney fire since anthracite coal doesn’t produce any creosote. There should be no concern about fuel or gas leaks; Anthracite is ideal for long-term storage in any environment. Unlike wood, Anthracite never decays.

Anthracite coal burns hotter than oil, pellets, wood, or gas, so you get more BTUs per pound than most other fuels. It burns evenly throughout each loading period.

Anthracite coal burns very clean with virtually no smoke or particulate emissions. Emissions are under the maximum/minimum of EPA’s requirements, making Anthracite among the cleanest burning heating fuels.

Anthracite coal is one of the most economical heating fuel sources. Its pricing per million BTUs is below that of oil, gas pellets, electric, or wood.

You can find it in 40-pound bags to make it easier to carry. Compared to other types of stoves, Anthracite coal stoves require less maintenance.

Our skilled, dedicated team makes each Alternate Heating System’s Coal Gun from premium materials. Each unit is tested thoroughly before leaving our facility to meet our high-quality standards. We guarantee that our product will have no issues with materials and craftsmanship. Each Coal Gun comes complete with the necessary controls for safe operation.
