S130 Outdoor Coal Boiler

The Coal Gun outdoor boiler is ideal for people searching to save their time and money! The Coal Gun Outdoor will have a positive return on investment in about three years. A hopper containing almost 2,000 lbs of coal and the completely automated feed and ash pit system means it requires little user attention.

This can provide you with a 30 day burn time, subject to usage! The Coal Gun

uses Pennsylvania’s anthracite fuel and will produce enough heat for a whole residence including private hot water for about 70% less cost than electric and nearly 50% less cost than traditional oil or gas systems.
The outdoor housing can be specially engineered to complement the color of the external wall of the user’s residence or outbuilding. Call today for more information!

Each AHS Coal Gun is made from premium quality materials by skilled, devoted experts. Each unit is fully tested and quality checked before it leaves our factory to make sure it complies with our standards of quality. In fact, we assure you that our product is devoid of defects in materials and workmanship*. Every AHS Coal Gun comes fully with all the controls required for operation and safety.

Standard equipment includes an insulated boiler jacket, Totally enclosed motor and drive systems, two aquastats, Thermo Ash-Monitoring Control, and pressure relief valve.

Our reputation for being one of the longest-lasting heating units is attributed to our dedication to high standards (some reported at 30 years of use and more). At the end of the day, the S130 outdoor will save you both time and money!

How It Functions…

Anthracite coal is loaded into the very large hopper and flows into the coal pot. The coal pot is where the fire is. A draft fan pulls the air up through the fire thus creating the extremely hot fire. The hot exhaust along with some fly ash are pulled into the Swirl Chamber heat exchanger. The draft fan spins the ash and hot exhaust around in the heat exchanger which allows more heat to be pulled out of the exhaust and the swirling fly ash will actually scrub the wall allowing maximum efficiency all season. The hot exhaust gas enters the cyclone ash separator through from our Swirl Chamber, where the rest of the coal ash is taken out. Anthracite coal does not cause creosote or emit any smoke!

As the grate removes the ash from the bottom of the fire fresh coal is fed by gravity on top of the fire.

Thermo Ash-Monitoring Control…

Every Coal Gun® boiler includes a Thermo Ash-Monitoring Control which gives optimum utilization of your fuel. The Thermo Ash-Monitoring Control instantly senses the temperature of the ash leaving the coal pot will not dump the ash until reaches the set temperature signifying it is fully burned.

Some coal stokers need to be adjusted to create more and less heat. However, Thermo Ash-Monitoring Control on a Coal Gun automatically adjusts the BTU output to match the changing season, and very rarely is an adjustment needed. (a minimal on-site alteration may be required when the boiler is first installed). With the Thermo Ash-Monitoring controlled grate, it is likely for the fire to remain burning for days even with little to no heat draw.

The Consumption of Fuel…

There are many factors that can affect the amount of fuel used such as the weather, and building construction. The AHS Coal Gun will use less fuel than other units on the market due to its efficiency and will greatly lessen your yearly heating costs.

*Limited Warranty

Alternate Heating Systems boilers and furnaces are guaranteed against damages in materials and workmanship for the given time:

  • Boiler Vessel – 20 years
  • Grate S130/S260 -Lifetime
  • The length of guarantee will be between 30 days to 1 year for all other elements both  produced by Alternate Heating Systems and bought from vendors

A copy of the full guarantee text, detailing coverage, limitations, warranty claim procedure, and state law rights is available from Alternate Heating Systems.

Wood Siding

Our usual siding is ribbed sheet metal, we provide the “barn-siding” look as an alternative.

Domestic Coil

This Domestic Coil shows a 100° F rise at 5 gallons per minute, 50° water inlet temperature, and 65 PSI water pressure. It is threaded into the boiler 4 IN NPT fitting.

ASME Certification

The ASME Certification guarantees the steel quality and weld standard of the boiler water jacket. Every ASME Certified water jacket has been compressed to 60 PSI and comes with a 30 PSI release valve. This certification is needed for all business applications. The certification is also needed for some homes depending upon local codes – it is up to the homeowner to decide the requirement for an ASME certification on any boiler purchased.

Low Water Cutoff

Senses the water level in the vessel and shuts the unit down if the water level drops to a dangerous condition.
